September 15 - NICU Day 4

Text to Family:
Talked with Crosby's doc this morning. He's almost back to full birth weight weighing 6 pounds even! He is doing great with breathing. Lungs sound great. No jaundice. Digesting things well. Pooping and peeing. They are weaning him off of TPN (protein/sugar) IV and increasing tube feeds today. Hopefully the IV is gone by tomorrow/Saturday. Hopefully this will make him more alert and able to take all feedings orally (either bottle or breast). Once that is happening for 48 hours and he's holding his temp (which he's basically doing now), we can go. I'm guessing 4-5 more days. He's done great with nursing a few times in a row now and is much more alert than he was when he was born. Right now I am going back & forth about 3 times a day, nursing and staying for 2-3 hours each time. And pumping around the clock every 3 hours while Bryan manages home and kids. Thank you all for the prayers. They are needed and felt.

Bryan was able to give Crosby a bottle when we went to visit at 10:00.

Meanwhile back at home, it was picture day at school!
