June 16 - Haze Turns FIVE

Hazey came upstairs and stood by our bed with cute tired eyes and bedhead and told us that it was his birthday by using only his happy smile.  He said he felt like he had "grown an inch and new muscle because he was five."
Went in to the front room to see it (and the kitchen) decorated with Avengers and #5s for his birthday!
(Grama stayed over night so she could experience some of Haze's birthday with him!)
Opened presents!  Daddy made a "ninja present tower."  He had to punch open the big boxes to get to his birthday presents.  He LOVED that!
(Daddy stayed home from work until 9:30 for birthday festivities!)
Birthday breakfast!  #5 pancake for Hazey!
Outside to play with his new squirt guns, swords, Hulk hands, and swimming pool!
Said good-bye to Grama.
Went to WalMart & bought another Transformer with the money he got from Grama & Grampa.
Got lunch at the place of his choice - Dairy Queen.  He wanted "crusty chicken" (AKA breaded & fried chicken).  He ate FOUR pieces of chicken and some fries!
Played outside some more with birthday gifts.
Helped Mom make cookies for his cookie cake.  Licked the batter.
Daddy came home!  Had a squirt gun water fight with Dad.  Laughed & screamed at they both ran around the house.
Played with toys again.
Dinner of his choice.  He chose to have a peanut butter sandwich, some "Iron Man chips" (AKA Doritos) and some strawberries.  Ate it all!
Cake, ice cream & singing!  Hazey doesn't like cake so he chose to have a "cookie cake" and cookies & cream ice cream.
Went to Riverwoods and played video games and REAL bowling!
Home LATE, but got to watch a bedtime show anyway since it was his birthday.
Prayers, songs & bedtime.  (Last night, Andlie said the family prayer & blessed that "Haze would have a happy birthday tomorrow.")

Hazey is still a picky eater, but he's getting better.  He's added a few things to the list of stuff he'll eat including oranges, lasagna, and homemade chicken soup.  He's not a huge sleeper, but he never has been.  He only needs a good 9-10 hours of sleep to function well and is usually the first one awake in the house.  He's a very protective brother and is always watching out for his sisters.  He isn't afraid to speak up (even to older kids) if they're being mean or sassy to his sisters.  He is getting so brave and has recently started to sit with his class instead of with Andlie during Primary Sharing Time.  He loves routine and gets kind of upset when we don't have time to snuggle in bed or play the iPad before we start the day.  He LOVES all things Transformers.  He has gotten tall & skinny lately - especially his limbs!  He is getting to be quite the little artist and has really started liking coloring and writing!

He's one of our most favorite boys in the whole wide world! He woke up yesterday on his birthday and told me he felt an inch taller and a few muscles bigger because he had turned five. His current loves are Transformers and being outside (especially in the water or on his bike - which he has been riding training wheel free since March). He can out-eat me but only if we're having sloppy joes, Doritos, oranges, or "crusty chicken" (breaded & fried chicken). Oh and he loves chocolate chip cookies so much that he chose a cookie cake over a real cake. He is absolutely stubborn and independent and strong-willed. He fights and loves fiercely and makes me so proud and blissfully happy every day! We feel so blessed that he calls us Mommy & Daddy. Happy 5th birthday, Hazey! We love you to the moon and all around the world and back to Earth a million times!
