January 30 - Daddy Dates

Saturday morning.  Our first Saturday in a few weeks that we didn't have one thing going on.  So we ate cinnamon rolls and played Guess Who in our jammies.

And then (because it was snowing pretty hard), we went to the library to get some new books!  Andlie is big enough now that she "shops" for books in the Intermediate section!  Oh my heck!  How do I have a little girl who is missing eight teeth and wants to check out chapter books at the library?!

When we got home, Nora went down for a nap and Daddy took Hazey on a special date to see "Kung Fu Panda 3."  Which means that Andlie & I were left to play all by ourselves.  I played "school" with my stuffed animals when I was little.  I'd line them all up and "teach" them.  And then when I turned 9ish, I started charging the neighborhood kids $2 each of 2 hours of "school" where I'd teach them about a chosen topic and we'd do a matching art project.  For reals.  And today, I got to play school with a real student!  My own daughter!  Andlie requested that we play and that I be the teacher.  I almost squealed.  And I had fun every second we played.  And so did she.  She giggled a lot.  And she was such a good student!  The subjects we touched on were:

Reading/Comprehension: I told her a story and then quizzed her.
Math: We used blocks show tens and ones and I gave her a quiz.
Reading: I read one of her chapter books to her and asked her to draw something from the chapter.
Spelling: I gave her a spelling test with five words.
Writing: We wrote our names in the air with our bums!
PE: We did an exercise video from YouTube.
Art: We made a butterfly with construction paper and tissue paper.

The book we are reading ("Clementine") is pretty funny.  I loved reading it.  It has a lot of humor - for kids and adults. Page 22 was one of my favorites.

After Hazey & Daddy got home, I took Hazey & Nora to get gas & some groceries.  I was so proud of filling up my tank for $15.07!

Daddy took Andlie to a BYU game!  She had so much fun!  So much.  She loved watching everything/everyone!  Our kids are so lucky to have such a wonderful Daddy.

January 29 - Temple Open House

Today was Character Day at Andlie's school!  She chose to dress as Agent Olive from Odd Squad.  (She's the one on the far right.)

And she nailed it.

I checked her out of school at 10:40 so we could go to the Provo City Center Temple Open House!  We met Daddy there.  It was beautiful!  Not as intricate as some other temples, but very true to it's original.  Stained glass windows, arched/pointed doorways, earthy colors, and some beautiful murals!  We love to see the temple!

After the open house, I asked Andlie if she wanted to go back to school or just stay home.  (There was only 1 hour left.)  Of course she chose to go back!  And then when I picked her up, she brought Emily home for a play date!  Emily is moving this weekend and Andlie is going to miss her so much!  Pretty much all that happened during their play date was giggling and smiling.

While the girls were busy giggling downstairs, me & Hazey played with play dough.  He made me a "delicious waffle."  It had "peanut butter and ham and frosting and chicken."  Mmmmmmm.

January 28 - Last Day of Preschool

Today was Hazey's last day of preschool.  Preschool actually ends in May with the school year, but it was time to pull Hazey out.  He started really well in August.  But when Devin threw up right by him, it reset something in his cute little brain and he hasn't really loved it since.  Lately it's been making him physically sick and he's not enjoying it at all.  We prayed about it and we feel like no more preschool right now is what's best for our cute little Buddy.  He was sure happy with the announcement!  We took some "Last Day of Preschool" pictures.

Cute little Andlie made herself comfy while she was visiting Mandy who was sitting in the chair.

This afternoon, we built a hut in our living room!  The kids had so much fun playing in it!

Before Mandy & kids had to leave, we squished in a little bit of fun outside - roller skating/blading and riding bikes!  We had so much fun having the Hatches play with us for a couple days!  We love having them here!

Tonight before bed, Haze showed me that he can copy Zombie's face.  I'd say it's a pretty close match!

January 27 - Grama & The Hatches

Grama, Mandy Daisey, and Liam arrived at our house last night around dinner time!  We're so happy to have them here!  This morning, Grama took the kids (minus Andlie who was at school) out for a snow walk!  While they were out, they found their very own "ice castle!"

Then we came inside and got warm and headed to Riverwoods where we played on the playground, played some video games, and rode the carousel!

Nora screamed and cried at the thought of riding the ponies on the carousel, but she had a lot of fun holding on to the pole while it was spinning around!

Next up - story time!

And then we had to take pictures!  All the grandkids were all together and we had to take advantage!

And then Grama had to leave and it was super sad and we missed her as soon as she left!

While we were making dinner, Andlie made a "lesson plan" for Daisey.  She gave it to Mandy and then told her to "have Daisey come over for her lesson about letters."  So Mandy obeyed.
Apple, Ball, Cat, Dog, Egg, Fish, Gap, Hatch, Igloo, Jack in the Box, Kite, Leg, Mom, Nap, Octopus, Princess, Queen, Ring, Snake, Turtle, Underwear, Vampire, Whale, X-ray, Yoyo, Zipper

We finished our night at Skate Night!  It was put on by Andlie's school and it was free to skate!  We had SO MUCH fun!  Haze even tried his hand at roller skating!  Nora totally thought she was skating like everyone else even though she was just pushing the "roller skate helper" around the floor.  Andlie was a total pro and ditched us for friends pretty quickly.

I went in to check on Nora before we went to bed around 11:00.  She was wide awake.  Wide.  She asked me to sing songs.  One by one.  "Sing Elsa song."  "Sing Jesus song."  "Sing Anna song."  And she was just visiting me and being the cutest ever.  And then she said, "Should we go see Daddy?"  And so I got her out.  I mean.....

Then we sat on the couch & read the owl book, the Busy Town book, the Anna/Elsa book, and the Jake and the Neverland Pirates book.  We read a lot.  And we visited and she carried on conversation in her cutest tiny voice.  We talked about every page of every book.  We pointed things out.  Nora pointed out the Mommys and the hats and the babies and the princesses and the flowers and the sleeping owls and the blankies and it really was the cutest thing.  I feel so blessed to be a Mommy.  Especially to my kids.  They're the very best ones.

I finally put Nora to bed around 11:40 after a few more songs and lots of hugs & kisses & giggles.
