August 31 - Kindergarten Day 3 & Soccer

Kindergarten Day 3.  Nailed it!  (We have a rough few minutes here and there at school, but overall, Haze is doing really well!)

I love that his teacher makes the kids look her in the eye and say, "Hi, Mrs. Sumsion," and then she says "hi" back to them.  I think it helps Hazey a lot!

Meanwhile, Nora has been enjoying her own "Mommy time" for a few hours at home!  Her current favorite activity is water coloring!  (In her Rainbow Princess crown, of course.)  She paints some beautiful pictures!  She loves to just sit & visit, visit, visit!  She's pretty happy to be doing pretty much anything as long as I'm nearby.  I'm thankful I have some one on one time with Princess Nora before baby brother comes along.

Haze has been getting a tiny bit nervous about reading time at school, so today we practiced some reading at home!  He is doing really well!

Tonight at Andlie's game, she scored FIVE goals!  And she also had some awesome assists!  AND, she kicked the ball over the entire other team's heads at one point!  She's having fun and doing really well this season!

When she saw the blue team playing on the field next to her, she couldn't wait until the game was over so she could go find Capri!  Capri was in her class last year and was supposed to be in her class this year, but she switched schools because her Mom got a job teaching at a different school.  Andlie came home on the first day of school so sad and crying and said, "Is Capri just GONE?!"  We were so happy to find out that she's still here - just at a different school!

These two girls ran to each other after the games tonight and immediately had a play date planned for this weekend!

August 30 - 34 Week Check Up

Went to the school this morning to help with some math book assembling.  Had to stop by Andlie's classroom to spy.  Door was shut, but I got a good glimpse of her schoolwork hanging outside of the classroom.

Had a doc appointment today.  33 weeks, 5 days.  (34 weeks.)  I've gained 25 pounds and usually deliver around 29 pounds gained.  Bryan & Nora came.  Listened to baby’s heartbeat.  Barely had to “touch down” before we heard a STRONG, steady heartbeat.  Nora’s eyes LIT UP when she heard it and she smiled ear to ear.  Doc measured.  Said everything looked & sounded great.  Felt for baby.  Head down, bum up, and “something pokey” in the upper left quadrant of my tummy.  Told me I could be induced at 39 weeks if I wanted.  Baby is “in good position.”  Said next appointment will be Group B Strep test, maybe a flu shot, and checking cervix.  At my suggestion, he said, “Maybe we can do the Strep test and the flu shot at the exact same time so you won’t notice either.”  Sat & visited with us about baseball & Summer for a while.  Very calm.  Very educated.  At the end, he said, “So next appointment, we will check your cervix, do the Group B Strep test, and give you a flu shot all at once.”  LOVE this doc.  (Same one that delivered Nora.)  Am tempted to set up induction when he’s working just because he’s so calm & capable.

Diet Coke.  Like Father, like children.  Haze & Nora enjoyed a few sips of Coke this afternoon.....

Andlie brought home her first spelling test of the year.  No surprise that she got 100%.  So proud of her.

Nora got her Halloween costume in the mail today!  She immediately demanded that we put it on (right at the mailbox) and hasn't taken it off since.

Also, Andlie is taking Haze on a "treasure hunt" with a "map" she made in art class today.  And Bryan is bouncing a tennis ball around while "Rainbow Princess" follows.  I sure love my family.

August 29 - First Day of Kindergarten

Today was Haze's FIRST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN!  Wow!  He's been pretty excited AND pretty nervous about this day for a long time!

Daddy stayed home from work while Haze got up and got ready and then we took pictures.  Nora wanted her backpack on too.  (And her crown because duh.)  And then we took him to school!  There, he was greeted by the same red carpet & balloons that Andlie was greeted by last week.  He rocked the carpet!  He loved it!  He did so good when he went in the classroom!  And so did I.  Until I peeked in and saw him smiling and talking to a soccer friend.  Then I lost it completely.  I'm not sure when it happened or how it happened, but Haze has grown up and is totally ready for this new adventure!

I did most of my crying in the car.  And then I remembered to smile because Haze was so happy and I love him so much!

He had a great first day!  He said he only cried a little bit and he's happy to go again tomorrow!

And then 2:00 rolled around and I found him like this.  It's hard to be so nervous and excited all at once.  (He slept until 3:45.)

"Nora, make a crazy face!"

Poor Andlie got a fat lip playing "shooty guns" with Daddy, Nora, and Hazey.  There was blood.  And then was panic.  But then there was laughter because of how her lip felt and how it looked when she smiled.

August 28 - First Soccer Games of the Season

Today was the first game for the Black Thunder!  Haze had a GREAT game and scored FIVE goals!  It was fun to have Grama & Grampa Puppy here to watch as well!

It was also the first game for the White Snowflakes!  Andlie also had an AWESOME game and scored FOUR goals!  (Two of which she scored by kicking the ball from the half line to the goal!)

Side note: Andlie was on the pink team, but after school started, we realized that her classmate and "best friend," Brynn, was on another team with girls that were closer to her age AND skill level.  So we were able to switch teams!  Good thing because the pink team was full of young beginners.  This was a great choice for her and she'll have a MUCH better experience on this team.  Or as she says, "I'm glad I'm not on the baby team any more!"

This afternoon, Andlie asked Daddy to draw a tattoo on her back.  He kept writing boys' names on her back.  She kept rolling her eyes, and jumping up & down & saying, "Daaaaaaaaaad!!!!!"  I'm not sure why, but she kept trusting him and he just kept bugging her.  It was quite hilarious!
